About Worship Band Training

Worship Band Training exists to help worship musicians play with confidence, clarity, and excellence.

Hi, I’m Michael.

I’ve been leading worship, training worship musicians, and working in music ministry for more than 30 years. Over that time, I’ve worked with worship teams of all skill levels and backgrounds, from experienced musicians to volunteers who are still learning the fundamentals of playing in a modern worship band setting.

One thing I’ve seen over and over is that many musicians are capable players, but they were never taught some of the practical music skills that make rehearsals smoother and bands tighter. Things like reading rhythm charts, understanding chord movement, communicating with other musicians, and following musical structure with confidence.

That’s why I created Worship Band Training.

The goal of this site is simple: provide practical, straightforward training that helps worship musicians grow in skill, confidence, and musical understanding without making things overly academic or intimidating.

My background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music as well as a Master’s degree in Worship Studies and Worship Technology. Along the way, I’ve worked extensively in worship ministry, music education, music technology, arranging, live performance systems, and contemporary worship leadership.

Whether you serve on keys, guitar, bass, drums, or another instrument, my hope is that these courses and resources will help you serve your church more effectively and communicate musically with greater confidence.

Thanks for being here.

— Michael
